19世紀末から20世紀初頭、
巨大資本家やブローカーの
欲望が渦巻く場所として
社会の批判に晒されていた。
鉄鋼王カーネギーが
ブローカーを「寄生虫」と呼んだのは、
当時の倫理観と市場への不信感を
象徴する発言だ。
金儲けが至上とされる世界で、
詩人は皮肉を込めて
金への執着を戒める。
これは単なる金融街批判ではない。
すべての強欲な人間への風刺だ。
