詩人は顧みられぬ情熱の火を消し、 音は途絶え、意味は失せる。 すると、飼い犬が東西に向かい、 胸に燃える情熱を説き始める。 その魅惑的な土地の上で昇る月は、 立ち止まって聞き入り、理解しようと切望する。 ―― モウブレイ・マイルズ
