その先に生まれる滑稽な結果。
王が片目を失えば、家臣はこぞって
片目を閉じるふりをする。

だが、王が怒りだすと、
今度は目を閉じるふりをするのをやめ、
傷を隠すための「貼りもの」で、
一貫性のない流行を作り出す。

これは、時の権威に媚びる者たちの
本質を突いた風刺だ。
ファッションとは、賢者さえも従い、
嘲笑するしかない暴君なのだ。
