月並みな教訓を揶揄した言葉だ。
ビアスが生きた時代、
ジャーナリズムの隆盛とともに、
薄っぺらな美辞麗句が
社会に溢れていた。
彼の批判は、思考停止を招く
安易な表現への痛烈な皮肉である。
誰もが知る「真実」が、
形式化し魂を失った残骸を指す。
思考の海に打ち上げられ、
しぼんだ「警句の屍」だ。
