かつては高貴な戦士、 やがて市民としての名誉ある人物、 今や笑いを誘う滑稽な男。 騎士の位も堕ちるところまで堕ちた。 次は犬にでも授けねばなるまい。 “犬舎騎士”――“黄金ノミ騎士”―― “セント・ステボイ騎士団”―― “セント・ゴージ騎士団”―― “ジョーイ卿の騎士”―― この“騎士叙任ブーム”が犬どもにまで及び、 最後には犬たちが狂い出す日が来ますように。
