ミイラを通して人類は―― 死者への敬意を神々に示すのだという。 だが実際には―― 聖者であれ罪人であれ墓を荒らし、 薬として蒸留し、顔料としてすり潰し、 干からびた体を見世物にして金を取り、 その恥辱を笑いながら群れ集まる。 おお、神々よ、私の詩のために答えてくれ―― 死者への敬意とは、一体どれほどの年月 守ればよいものなのか？ ―― スコパス・ブルーン
